What is Craniosacral Therapy?
It is a gentle hands on therapy focussing on the alignment of the skull bones, spine and sacrum - the core of your body. The therapist tunes in to the fascia tissue (Connective tissue which surrounds all areas of the body) and facilitates movement within it to bring about therapeutic change in the core.
Craniosacral Therapy enhances the body’s natural healing processes, and has been effective over a wide spectrum of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
Migraine headaches, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, chronic neck and back pain, emotional difficulties, motor co-ordination difficulties, stress and tension-related problems, central nervous system disorders, temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), orthopaedic problems, chronic fatigue, neurovascular or immune disorders, scoliosis, infantile disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism, learning disabilities, fibromyalgia and other connective tissue disorders.
What is SomatoEmotional Release? (SER)
It is a gentle hands on therapy where the practitioner assists the client to listen and resolve issues within their emotional body. The therapists will intuitively place their hands over an area of tissue requiring SER. The client will be encouraged to focus their attention on the tissue and to describe how the area feels. Continued dialoguing and focus will help the client to connect to an emotion which is in conflict with their physical well being. Through continued dialoguing, resolution is sought and the physical, mental and emotional bodies are rebalanced.
SomatoEmotional Release can be, and is often used in conjunction with Craniosacral Therapy, to bring about profound changes in ones psyche and soma. SomatoEmotional Release helps a client to realise their full potential as a human being.
Massage
Sometimes when clients see Darren their bodies require a good massage (or two) before the more subtle work of Craniosacral therapy. Massage relaxes tired, stiff aching muscles and leaves one feeling refreshed, relaxed and rejuvinated. Darren works intuitively; no massage is ever the same. He uses a combination of different techniques and stretches to relax and de-stress the muscle tissue.
Massage benefits the body in many ways including; calms the nervous system and promotes a sense of relaxation and well being; reduces tension and anxiety; improves blood circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells; stimulates the lymphatic system, which carries away the body’s waste products; prevents and relieve muscles cramps and spasms; can help with pain management in conditions such as arthritis.
